Boralexhas been providing renewable and affordable energy for over 30 years. The Group, composed of more than 800 employees, operatesrenewable assets with an installed capacity of over 3 GW and is developing a project portfolio of 6.8 GW in wind, solar, and energy storage.

The Origination Project Manager will have a key role in reviewing new projects and will work closely with the Director – Origination, Property and Grid, UK Project Managers and the wider Boralex organisation to develop and drive delivery of the prospection and early stage sites to required budgets and programme. You will play an important role in:

    Convey a positive image of the company and represent Boralex in accordance with its valuesReview and report on site constraints and attributes in terms of planning and environmental designations, using the outputs of the in-house GIS team and other online and desktop sources to determine the feasibility of land for renewable energy developmentsComplete RAG/feasibility reports on prospective sites, including instructing external consultants and internal colleagues to review and report on key issues as necessaryIdentifying and assessing relevant planning policy applicable to renewable energy projectsSetting up and updating a risk register of key project issues that will require future mitigation responses Working alongside the Estates and Project Directorsto help manage contact with potential new landowners and assist with ongoing contact with the appointed land agents and legal advisors for all onshore property agreementsImplement the site finding strategy to grow and maintain the pipeline of future UK projectsAssist with identifying required property agreements for a project, such as Option & Lease, Access, Wayleave, Easement and HMP agreements (further referred to as ‘the agreements’)Identify and advance new sites which balance risk, quality and cost commensurate with the needs of the project and within the internal parameters setClear and consistent file management and record keeping, adhering to the agreed structureAttending internal and external meetings regarding origination matters, capable of leading where necessaryDrafting tender submissions and powerpoint presentationsEnsure a good handover to the development project manager once the site has completed the prospection processProvide consenting/planning strategy advice to the Origination and Development teamsDevelop positive relationships with landowners, consultants and site introduction agents to maintain existing opportunities and seek new opportunities through network of contactsInstruct and manage external EIA, feasibility and environmental consultants to investigate and report on key consenting issues and constraintsMaintain an awareness of key consenting and environmental issues, for example by reviewing relevant appeal decisions and attending online events and conferencesDevelop and maintain a healthy and safe work environment and demonstrate a strong knowledge in health and safety; including obtaining relevant health and safety documents and protocols from subconsultantsSupport the development of their skills by CPD and other studies

💡 To succeed in this position, you need:

    Understanding of planning and environmental law and polocy, ideally within renewable energy sector. Understanding of the key consenting risks as applicable in the renewable energy industryComputer literate (Excel, MS project)Able to lead contact with new landownersCapable of participating in negotiationsCommercial and legal sensitivityA Degree in Town Planning or equivalent field of expertiseMRTPI or working towards RTPI membership
