Marie Giguère started her career working for a private law firm, where she began building a strong client base and developing her expertise in areas such as public funding. She later served as a senior vice president with the Montreal Exchange, in which capacity she helped to restructure Canadian stock markets in 1998. She joined Molson shortly thereafter as a senior vice president, where she was involved in several M&As, including the merger of Molson and Coors, which she has since described as a uniquely complex challenge.
She was subsequently hired by the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, holding several different positions relating to legal affairs, corporate social responsibility, governance, acquisitions and other transactions, and infrastructure financing. After stepping down from her role as an executive vice president, she was asked to join Boralex’s Board of Directors.
Contributing to Good Governance at Boralex
Marie feels that a pragmatic approach is key to the company’s success going forward. She brings a unique perspective to Boralex’s Board of Directors. Mindful of the various issues at stake regarding interconnectedness, fluctuating interest rates and project complexity, she is determined to spark dialogue and find solutions. Her experience serving as a director for public organizations undergoing a major transaction and representing companies during or after an acquisition gives her in-depth insight into how boards operate and how they can best discharge their responsibilities.
