Lise Croteau is a change champion who is dedicated to promoting innovative ideas in the interests of the companies she serves. She isn’t one to take “no” or “it can’t be done” for an answer, and she strongly believes in the power of determination, experience and gut instinct.

During her more than 30 years at Hydro-Québec, where she rose through the ranks to become interim President and CEO, Lise created many multidisciplinary teams with the aim of getting people to think about how they could add value and improve the organization. She is particularly adept at listening actively to people’s ideas and helping them leverage their strengths.

My determination and ideas have led me to have a positive impact on the accounting profession. I developed an accounting framework for derivative financial instruments that then influenced the accounting standards adopted by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. My contribution led to me being nominated for Fellow and was a watershed moment in my career. It strengthened my belief that you must be proactive to lead the way.
