Holder of the title of Fellow of the Order of Chartered Administrators since 2024, Ricky Fontaine has a rich background in corporate administration and management, as well as in government policy analysis, particularly those related to Indigenous issues and economic development.
Ricky Fontaine’s career over the past three decades includes extensive expertise in the governance of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous corporations, as well as in managing economic development projects in various sectors, particularly energy. He has held several leadership positions within national, regional, and local organizations, including General Manager of the local government of the Innu Nation of Uashat mak Mani-utenam, the Montagnais Economic Development Corporation, and Indigenous financing company, and has also implemented Impact Benefit Agreements (IBAs) signed by Uashat in the mining and energy sectors.
Contributing to Good Governance at Boralex
Ricky Fontaine joined Boralex’s Board of Directors in August 2024. Since then, he has brought his perspective through his varied experience in governance and economic development, in addition to his knowledge and analysis of relationships with Indigenous communities.
Education and Career
- Sites on several boards of directors, including the First Peoples Innovation Center, where he also serves on the Finance Committee, and Canada Post, where he is a member of the Audit and ESG Committees.
- Has contributed to the implementation monitoring committees of IBAs between ITUM and companies such as ArcelorMittal, Quebec Iron Ore, Tata Steel Minerals Canada, and Rio Tinto-IOC, as well as Hydro-Québec.
