During his long, distinguished and unique career, Rémi G. Lalonde has led a number of very large teams, including nearly 7,000 people during his time as President and CEO of Resolute Forest Products. In this capacity, he also oversaw a major privatization transaction valued at US$2.7 billion. Efficiency has always been a key driver behind his decisions, which are unfailingly rooted in growth and financial performance.
Rémi embraces a progressive vision of climate issues and the way they impact business, and this influences how he thinks about and contributes to corporate strategies. His career highlights include his contributions to developing the forest products industry in North America and helping strengthen CN’s organization. This strengthening was rooted in identifying customer needs and implementing a strong, sustainable financial performance strategy during his tenure as Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer.
At Resolute, Rémi held a variety of leadership roles where he was put in charge of such core functions as treasury, investor relations, taxation, strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, procurement and shared services. His legal background and experience inform how he handles negotiating and dealmaking, with the ultimate goal of achieving financially successful outcomes.
